STUDY VISIT
I have gained a placement to carry out some research in Australia. The details were confirmed at the end of last term, and I will be away from 22nd April untill 22nd May. Whilst I am in Australia I hope to visit several schools and study the way they teach key sills and ensure that children make good progress. I also hope to further develop our links with the school that Mrs Matthews has come from with a view to setting up some
e-mail links for pupils. Whilst I am away, Mr Wallace will be the Acting Head; the running of the school will not be affected at all.
School Award
I am pleased to let you know that we have been awarded a Kitemark by Plymouth City Council for our Reception Class. The award is given to Early Years providers who can prove that they meet the required standards in training, developing children, equal opportunities and inclusion.

Parents Survey
I would like to thank everyone who completed our survey. I have collated the results and you find them at the bottom this newsletter. The staff and I have discussed the results on our non-pupil day and the Governing body will look at them at their next meeting. The main concerns surrounded clubs and homework; we will look at both of these areas in the coming year.

School Photos
The School Photographer will be here on Thursday 25th April. All children will have their photos taken and SHOULD WEAR SCHOOL UNIFORM. If you have a pre-school child who you wish to be part of a family photograph, please be in school for 9.15am. NB: There will be no obligation to buy the photographs.

Playground Development
Plans for transforming the playground have been agreed by the children's school council and governors. Many of you kindly offered help - and now's the time! There will be a short meeting for parents to explain plans for the playground on Tuesday 30th April at 6pm in the Community room.

VACANCY:
We have a vacancy for a Meal Time Assistant. If you are interested, contact
Mr Wallace for further details.

Comments made include:
* Not enough out of hours activities/clubs for younger pupils.
* Home work either does not match the policy or is set inconsistently.
Parents not have a clear understanding on our approach, there is some
concern about the range of homework activites set.
