17 Jul 2002 - Newsletter July 2002 (10)
PICNIC This Friday 19th July we will be walking over to Saltram Park for our annual picnic. We intend to
leave school at 9.30 am and be back by 2.30 pm. In the past this has worked well - it is an opportunity for the children to play different games and helps to bond the school together. All pupils who are entitled to a free school meal will be provided with packed lunch (all other pupils will need to bring their own).
Children will not need to wear their uniform. Can parents please ensure that the children have enough to drink and bring a sun a hat ( in the hope that the good weather continues).
YEAR SIX FUNDRAISING
Thank you to everyone who supported Year 6. This year the pupils have been especially successful with their events, and the money raised will go towards their end of term leavers treat.
COMMONWEALTH GAMES
In order to celebrate the forthcoming Connonwealth Games meeting in Manchester, the whole school will be taking part in "sports" activities on Wednesday. I would like to thank Mrs Matthews and Ms Pethick for organising the day. Due to space limitations in the playgrounds, parents will not be able to attend on this occasion.
MEET THE TEACHER
Next Monday, children will spend an hour with their next teacher in order to prepare them for september.
RAFFLE
The raffle in aid of the school funds will now be held on Thursday 18th July instead of Friday 19th.
NATIONAL STRIKE
As you may be aware, a national strike has been called this Wednesday. I would like to asssure all parents that the school will operate as normal and, in particular, school dinners will not be affected. However, as I am unable to say whether the crossing patrols will be operating, can I ask you to ensure that your child arrives and leaves safely.
SCHOOL DINNERS
Please note, as from the first day of next term, the cost of school dinners will increase by 5p per day and will now cost £1.30 per day.
PE KIT
As part of our school policy, we encourage pupils to wear PE Kit; this is for health and safety as well as smartness. Kit can be ordered from the office.
SECURITY DURING THE HOLIDAYS
In order to keep the school free from vandalism over the holiday, Can I ask parents to telephone the police on 08705 7774444 if they see people trespassing on school premises.
Any vandalism has to be paid out of the school budget and this inevitably means less money is available to be spent on children's education.
THE STAFF AND I WOULD LIKE TO WISH YOU ALL A RELAXING AND ENJOYABLE SUMMER BREAK.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THE CHILDREN BACK ON THURSDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER.
