1 Jul 2004 - News-Letter June 2004

If you're wondering why this newsletter has June written on the top, it's because I've delayed it for a few days to keep you right up to date with the latest news from school. The good news is that we have found a fantastic teacher to replace Ms Bartram who, as you all know by now, is sadly moving to another school to teach at the end of this term. The new teacher is called Miss Evans and she will be teaching Year 1 from September. This is the full list for the next year:

Foundation Ms Prothero

Year 1 Miss Evans

Year 2 Miss Higman

Year 3 Mrs Frost

Year 4 Mrs Huxtable/Ms Cowan

Year 5 Mr Clooke

Year 6 Mr Wallace

The bad news is that the last week of rain has meant that our 3rd and 4th choice reserve dates for sports days have now been taken up by other local schools as their second choice reserve dates and we can't find any other date for sports day before the end of this term. I?m really sorry about this, but without our own field there really is nothing we can do about it. The weather has beaten us this year. Maybe we can do something a little different and have one in the autumn term? Watch this space! S Spry.
The Year 6 children are currently organising fundraising activities for their Leaver's Party. They will soon be advertising these events and contacting you to ask if your child could bring resources or small amounts of cash into school. As ever, we would be grateful for your help.

We are currently collecting: Persil Stars from Persil washing powder boxes; Nestlé Box Tops from Nestlé cereal boxes; spare uniform to use in school.

After winning the rugby and the cross-country, we nearly made it three in a row at the recent hockey festival.
Unfortunately we didn't manage it and lost 2-1 in the final. We also got very close in a couple of events in the athletics at Brickfields. More details in July's newsletter.

The Friends of Prince Rock and Year 6 are jointly holding a Fun Afternoon for all pupils on Thursday 15 July, to be followed by a disco in the evening. Times are as follows: KS1 3.45 - 5.00, KS2 5.15 - 6.30. We really need your support and would appreciate your help to make both these events as enjoyable as possible. If you can spare some time to help in the afternoon for the Fun Day or in the early evening at the disco, please let us know by filling in the form at the bottom of the newsletter. Our next meeting is on Monday 5th July at 2.45 pm; please meet outside the school office. These gatherings are very friendly and informal and always finish by 3.30. Your younger children are welcome.
