Happy New Year
Christmas already seems like a distant memory as we are all now well
into the new spring term.
The home / school books are now up and running and hopefully improving your communication with the school. Year 6 have been working with Plymouth Youth Afloat, years 3 and 4 have started swimming every week at Plympton Pool, and some of our year 1?s have been working with their parents at weekly family Numeracy sessions. All the lunchtime and after school clubs are now up and running once again and some of our sports teams have already been in action. The children have also been very busy thinking about others and raising money for the Tsunami disaster appeal. We?ve also hosted the first of our class assemblies. This was very well attended by the parents of Miss Prothero?s reception class and we look forward to welcoming you all to the rest. The dates for these are as follows :-

FLAG (Family Learning Activities Group) A big well done to the following children who took part in a special Christmas performance held after school on the 21st December last year ? Alex, Dylan, Hayley , Amy, Emma, Juliet , Chelsie and Lauren . FLAG are hoping to run a similar event in school next Christmas.
Football and NetballFor the first time in a number of yearsPrince Rock sent a football and netballteam to the Plymouth City tournaments earlier this month. Both teams played 3 matches and although they didn?t qualify for the finals they played really well and were a real credit to the school.
Girls and Boys Football
Last week Prince Rock took a boys and a girls football team to Estover Primary school to play 2 friendly matches. The boys managed to win convincingly by 6 goals to 0 but unfortunately our girls team lost by the same margin. Not bad going though for our first ever games on grass!
Changing lunchtimes Hopefully you will have all received the letter about our proposals to change the times of the school day. If you wish to contribute to the discussion then please come to the open meeting at 2.45 on Monday 7th February in the upstairs hall.
Student teachers
During the rest of this term Prince Rock will be hosting 3 teacher training students from Marjons. They will based in year 1, year 2 and year 5 and more details will be made available to parents from these 3 classes in due course.
Medicine in schoolCould you please remember that we can only give medicine to the children if it has been prescribed bya doctor. We cannot give cough medicine or painkillers that you just buy from the chemist. If you would like a member of staff to give your child prescribed medicationplease could you make sure that you have completed a medicine in school form, which you can get from Mrs Smith.

Children?s WorkYou may have noticed that there isn?t any children?s work in this issue. The reason for this is the Journalism Club did their own quite large newssheet, which we gave out last Friday. We hope you enjoyed it.
