20 Sep 2006 - Prince Rock Primary School

Prince Rock's day out bowling!!!

After some serious negotiations and lots of begging we have managed to negotiate 200 free tickets to next weeks grand opening of the local Megabowl / Tenpin complex! We will be going on Tuesday 19th September in two groups. Three classes will be going in the morning and four in the afternoon so lunch time will not be effected. We won't be asking for any separate consent forms because our local walks form covers the event, but you will need to make sure this is in school by Tuesday. Please let us know if you DON?T want your child to go and if they do please make sure they have appropriate coats and footwear.

Paint, Paint, Paint !

Hopefully you will have all noticed the Junior playground wall mural starting to take shape. It already looks 10 times better than before even though it's no where near finished! A massive thanks to Michelle Dickinson for helping us with the work and I'm sure we are all looking forward to seeing the finished mural!

A very warm welcome to our new reception children
We are very pleased to welcome 28 new children to the Prince Rock Primary School family, as well as 2 new children in years 3 and 4. We really hope you enjoy your time at our school.
Lost property
We have an enormous amount of lost property left over form
last term. We will be putting this out on display under the veranda from 3.15 ? 3.45 on Tuesday 19th September. If you think you?ve lost anything please come along and take a look. Anything left over after this date will be sold off in our second hand shop or thrown away.
(More details on new uniform is contained on the enclosed insert)

Home / school books

Your child's Home / School booklet should be with this newsletter. Homework is a key part of your child?s learning and their education will definitely benefit from any help you can give them. Please take a look inside the booklet, read the teachers comments and feel free to respond. We welcome your feedback and we look forward to working together to enhance your child?s learning.

Athletics reports
On Thursday 14th September our year 5 and 6 athletics team took part in an indoor tournament at Lipson Community College. The children competed in a range of running, jumping and throwing activities and finished SECOND ! As always with our children behaved superbly and were a real credit to the school. Well done!

The boys were Aziz, Hydary, Jamie, Tertulien, Shane and Kyle.

The girls were Charlotte, Katherine, Emily, Rhianna, Ria and Kayleigh.

Clubs
By now you will all have hopefully received and returned your child?s letter concerning clubs. This year we are offering new and additional clubs such as wildlife and Badminton along side old favourites such as netball and art. We have tried to offer something for everyone although we do appreciate that some year groups do have more choice. Please remember that during their time at Prince Rock Primary School this will hopefully balance out and they will get to access a huge range of additional free activities before they leave us. Enjoy!!!

Targets
Earlier this week your child will have brought home a sheet of paper outlining the activities planned in their class for the term. Next week they will be bringing home a further sheet of paper outlining their specific individual targets in Maths and English. Please go through this with them and help in whatever way you can. Information on parent teacher meetings will be distributed later this half term.

Phone numbers
Please keep Mrs Smith in the office informed of any changes of
phone numbers, especially mobiles. This is really important. Thank you
