18 Oct 2006 - Prince Rock Primary School

Another free day out... .. And this time we're off to the aquarium!!

After lots of very hard bargaining we have managed to negotiate a very, very good price for the whole school to go to the National Marine Aquarium on Thursday 16th November. As an early Christmas present to ALL the children and because we desperately want everybody to be able to experience the day, we are paying for the trip out of school funds! Bright Stars are coming with us too. We will be asking for consent forms and providing more details after half term. What fantastic news!

Parking

We are having lots of problems with various staff, visitors, taxis and parents getting blocked in our car park at the beginning and the end of the school day. There is currently too much traffic using the entrance which is making it really unsafe for pedestrians outside the school. Please park elsewhere unless it's a really genuine emergency.

Netball report
So far our fantastic netball team has played 2 matches against Salisbury Road and Holy Cross. We won the first match 9 - 3 and the second 13 - 0. It's going to take a lot to retain last years league title but with 2 wins out of 2 so far we are well on track to keep the trophy.

Parent governor vacancy
We still have a vacancy for 1 parent governor. Please see Mr. Spry for details.

Students
We currently have a number of student teachers and teaching assistants undertaking practices in our classrooms. In no cases do students take the place of our own qualified staff. They are in addition to our staff and they only ever add to the numbers of adults helping your children with their learning in school.

Sainsburys vouchers
Thank you for all your hard work helping us to collect the Sainsbury's vouchers last term. We collected thousands and we traded them in for the following new things which included, amongst other things :- 2 playground football posts, 5 stopwatches, 10 whistles, a balance beam, netball bibs, 36 skipping ropes and 36 playground balls. Thank you for all your efforts and please don't forget that we are now collecting the new TESCO vouchers and the Nestle Box tops for schools' .

Smoking
The school and its playgrounds are a strictly no smoking zone. Please refrain from lighting up in the playground or the building.

Uniform / shoes
Can we remind you that we need children to come to school in uniform and that they also need to wear appropriate school shoes. This does not include trainers. Can you please make sure your child returns to school after ½ term in the correct uniform and shoes. Thank you.

Spare / cover Meal Time Assistant vacancies
We currently have vacancies for temporary cover meal time assistants / lunchtime play workers. If you are available to fill in and cover lunchtimes at short notice could you please let Mrs Smith or Mr. Wallace know a.s.a.p.

Phone numbers
Please keep Mrs Smith in the school office informed of any changes of phone numbers, especially mobiles. We are finding that lots of our numbers are now out of date. Thank you.

Dinner Money
Can you please try to pay your school dinner money (£1.45 per day or £7.25 per week) in one go at the beginning of the week. This would be really helpful for our office staff as it is much harder to keep track of cash if it comes in daily.

Visitors

Every week various people come to our school to talk to or work with the children. For some time now we have been asking them to comment on their visit in our school visitors book which we keep at reception. We have been reading out some of these comments in our school assemblies and also sharing them with staff and governors. Once again we thought you might like to see some of them too.
