27 Apr 2007 - Prince Rock Primary School

Your school needs you!
Please come and help us with the final push to get our own allotment ready

We have been working for some time now on an exciting project with the East End healthy living network. Our school has been allocated a space on the allotments on Embankment Road and the local community have been working hard on preparing the site.

Over the last 2 weeks in school, your children have been busy planting fruit and vegetable seeds in readiness for planting in our school allotment, and we are really looking forward to seeing these grow. We are hoping that in July the children will be harvesting their produce and cooking /eating it in school.

However, we need your help to get the allotment finished and ready for the children to plant out their seedlings.

We are looking for parents, grandparents, neighbours or any general volunteers to assist the East End Community Partnership on either Saturday or Sunday from 12.00 noon with the levelling and final preparation of our part of the site. The work will involve raking and some tools will be available but if you can turn up with a rake that will be even better!

If your children join you to help please make sure you supervise them carefully because the site may well be full of many other allotment users. See you there.

EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBERS
COULD YOU PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE SCHOOL HAS YOUR UP TO DATE TELEPHONE NUMBERS. ONLY THIS WEEK TWO CHILDREN HAD TO GO TO HOSPITAL AND WE DID NOT HAVE UP TO DATE PHONE NUMBERS. THIS CAUSED THE CHILDREN A GREAT DEAL OF DISTRESS. PLEASE PASS ANY NEW NUMBERS TO MRS SMITH IN THE SCHOOL OFFICE ASAP. THANK YOU

New staffing arrangements

Earlier on this week we appointed Nicola Bloodworth as our new Parent Support Adviser. This new part time member of staff will be starting working with us straight after half term and her major role will be to support parents. Following her Local Authority training she will start off by introducing herself and her exact role to you in writing, and in person in the playground, before and after school. Watch this space for further details?..

Dogs in the Playground
Although most of the children
and staff like dogs, they are not
allowed in the playground for Hygiene reasons. Please do not bring them into school ? not even the cute, cuddly, puppy type.

NO SMOKING
Could you please remember that Prince Rock Primary School has a NO SMOKING POLICY. This includes not only
inside the school building but
also the whole of the school
playground.

Parent Governor Vacancy

We still have a vacancy for a parent governor. If you have any interest in this vital role in the future development of the school please see Mr. Spry for more details.

Free School Meals
Just a quick reminder that if your children are entitled to free school meals could you please complete a form available from Mrs Smith in the office, even if your child only ever has a packed lunch. The more children who register for free school meals the more the school will benefit.

Late Arrivals
Could you please make sure that your child leaves home with enough time
to get to school. The children should be in school at 8.50. We have had
a lot of children arriving late recently, this disrupts the class. Also if your child is going to be absent could you please phone the school by 10.00am, so that we can authorise your child?s absence.

Some of you will find a Breakfast and after school club survey enclosed in this newsletter. If your child attends the club we would appreciate you returning the form to Mrs Hook as soon as possible. Thanks
