The friends group are back and very, very busy!
The Christmas fair
Prince Rock Primary School’s ‘Friends group’ are now back and busy preparing for three fabulous Christmas events to help us fundraise, starting this Friday 30th November with the Christmas Fair. It should be a great evening with a range of stalls and activities to suit everyone. It’s taking place in the downstairs hall from
and it should be great fun. And remember ALL money raised will go towards the new adventure playground area
The Christmas Disco
On Thursday 13th December the ‘Friends group’ will be staging 2 Christmas disco’s. The Key Stage 1 disco will take place from
and the junior disco will run from
. Tickets will be on sale soon.
The Christmas raffle
Last but by no means least we have a proper Christmas raffle
with a brilliant selection of prizes. The children of Year 5 and 6 have
been very busy writing to local companies asking for support and we
have some excellent prizes on offer. These include a DVD player, a portable DVD player, a limited edition signed Pollard print, bowling vouchers, aquarium vouchers, Nandos’ vouchers, an Argyle T shirt, free haircuts, chocolates etc etc. More details to follow soon…….
If everything goes to plan and we raise enough
money then we should be able to start building around Easter!

School council
The school council have been busy recently helping us to select our new teachers. They are now firmly focused on coming up with some extra ideas to help us with our playground adventure trail fundraising ideas.
Class assemblies
Class assemblies will recommence in the spring term. Details will be given out in the next newsletter.
The Christmas shows
As you can see from the diary our Christmas shows are taking place on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th December. We have 2 shows on
Tuesday at 2.00pm and 6.00pm and 1 show on Wednesday at 2.00pm. Tickets will be available on a first come first served basis with a limit of 2 per family from 8.40am on Tuesday 4th December from Mrs Smith in the school office.

100 yr Anniversary
On June 8th 2008 it will be exactly 100 year’s since
Lunchtime – top table
This week we began a new ‘top table’ arrangement where we will be rewarding the children in each class for excellent behaviour while eating their lunch. One child form each class will be invited to join Mr. Spry at a special top table with extra treats and drinks. Next week it will be the turn of the pack lunch children. If your child has been really good at eating their lunch, look out for the special invite in their book bag on a Friday.
Parents/Teacher Meetings Year’s 3 / 5
On Tuesday 27th November and Tuesday 4th December years 3 and 5 will be holding the parent teacher meetings that were missed due to illness last half term. Please sign up on the lists outside the class room doors if you want to speak to your child’s teacher.
Staffing news
Those of you with children in Year 4 and Year R have already been contacted with news of our planned replacements to cover the maternity absence of Mrs Watt and Miss Prothero. However I wanted to let you all know about our plans for staffing in the spring term. Miss Prothero’s Reception class will be taught by Mrs Hanley, a teacher who already successfully teaches all our infant classes on a Tuesday. Mrs Watt’s Year 4 class will be taught by another teacher you all already know, Mr. Issitt. We have also appointed 2 new teachers to cover the work that Mr. Issitt and Mrs Hanley currently do for us. Miss Boobier will be doing 2 days working part time in our 3 infant classes and Mrs Miller will be doing 2 days working alongside Miss Brake in year 6.
Children in need
Thank you for all your support with this years
Need. Even though we kept it fairly low key because of our other fundraising plans for the playground we still managed to raise an impressive £100 Thank
you and well done everyone!
POPPY APPEAL
We managed to raise £27.50 for the poppy appeal. Thank you very much to everyone.
Netball
Having lost their first 2 matches by a couple of goals in the last quarter of the game, our netball team won their first match last week 8 – 1. A big well done to Gerard, Jack, Tertulien, Bethany, Courtney, Lauren and Charlie.

Home school books
We had a fantastic response to our recent survey on the home school booklets and we are responding to your suggestions by making some major changes. Most of you valued the booklets although many of you found them to be too big and bulky with lots of information in that you didn’t need going to and from home every day in the book bags. As a result of the survey we are splitting the booklet into two ½ size A5 style versions with 1 booklet containing all the tips for helping at home, key spellings, web sites etc. This will go home once and can be kept at home and referred to if needed. The 2nd actual home school booklet will be smaller, thinner and just contain the reading record pages and the space for home school liaison. We hope you will approve of the changes and we will get both booklets out to you as soon as we can. Watch this space!
Year 4 work
This month’s work is from some of our new children in year 4. What great images. Do you recognise the adults from the descriptions??
